Experience: Angela L. Schwers is the senior vice president of Human Resources for Pearson Education North America. She has been in this position since March 2007. Schwers joined Pearson in 1999 as the vice president of Employee Relations. Before Pearson, Schwers was with Simon & Schuster. As SVP of Human Resources, Schwers is responsible for managing the day-to-day human resources function as well as being a strategic partner to the organization on a wide variety of business-related issues. Schwers was one of the earliest proponents of balancing work and life within the publishing industry. She has been helping employees navigate their work and personal lives since 1993 by implementing various programs ranging from flexible work schedules to emergency child and elder care programs. Pearson Education was the first publishing company to make the 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers List. Schwers was named an honoree of TWIN in 2000 (Tribute to Women in Industry). She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's Degree in Industrial Psychology.
