President Manpower EMEA Middlesex, United Kingdom Experience: In her position at Manpower, Barbara J. Beck has full profit and loss responsibility for the company's operations in Europe (excluding France), the Middle East, and Africa. The EMEA region is the largest business unit within Manpower, generating $8.95 billion in revenues (41 percent of total corporate revenues) with 14,000 employees across 30 countries. Under Beck's leadership, EMEA revenues and profits have doubled. Brands under her responsibility are Manpower, Manpower Professional, Elan, Brook Street, and Vitae. Beck is a strong advocate of women's issues. In 2007, she was named to the World Economic Forum's Women Leaders Programme, which is dedicated to establishing strategies that address women's issues on a global basis. She is also a founding member of Catalyst Europe's Board of Advisors and an advisory board member of the Cherie Blair Foundation. In 2008, Beck joined the board of directors of Ecolab, a US-based Fortune 500 firm, where she serves on the finance and compensation committees. Beck received the prestigious 2008 Ruban d'Honneur, Business Leader of the Year, at the 2008 European Business Awards. Additionally in 2008, she was chosen as one of Pink magazine's Top 15 Women in Business for innovations that "turn ideas into earnings." Previously, Beck was president of Manpower's North America division and area vice president/GM for the western United States at Sprint Communications. |
