Managing Director, International Business East West Bank Admiralty, Hong Kong, Other Experience: Janie Fong is the managing director of international business at East West Bank in Hong Kong. Previously, she founded Cross Pacific Enterprises Limited, a privately held corporate advisory and trading company. In January of 2000, Fong was appointed to represent California in Hong Kong SAR and China. In that post, she established new business programs and initiatives designed to expand economic, trade, and diplomatic ties with benefits flowing both ways across the Pacific. Fong was also appointed by the Hong Kong SAR chief executive to serve on his Commission for Strategic Development and served as the executive officer of the California-Hong Kong Business Forum devoted to enhancing ties and commercial relationships between the regions. Her background includes extensive strategic experience as an international business attorney for Chinese, Hong Kong SAR, and US public and private sector organizations of all sizes. As a member of the California Bar, Fong practiced corporate and international business law with a specialty in cross-border transactions, remains a US licensed attorney, and is a member of the American Bar Association. Fong served as adviser and secretary-general to the China West Development Xi’an Development Committee; she was also an adviser to ChinaSF, the China office of the city and county of San Francisco, and chair of the Americas committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. Fong is the current president of the California Association of China and Hong Kong SAR as well as an advisory committee member of the Hong Kong Information Technology Industry Council (HKITIC). |
