Experience: Maha Al Juffali-Ghandour is the Director and Supervising Trustee of the Help Center, the first private charity center for children with mental disabilities in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She serves on the Board of the Ahmed Juffali Foundation, established by her family as a global philanthropic institution, and the Advisory Board of VSA arts International in Washington, DC, an international volunteer program and affiliate of the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. She has represented VSA arts International as the Executive Director of VSA arts-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She is also a member the Board of Trustees of the Gulf Disability Association; the Prince Salman Center for Disability Research; Simmons College; the American University in Cairo (AUC); and former member of the Board of Trustees of the American School of London (ASL). Al Juffali-Ghandour is also an advisor to many schools in Arab nations, and is an active advocate for the rights of people with mental disabilities, particularly regarding their employment, medical care, and public awareness. She has established support groups for parents, educators, siblings, and more recently, adult persons with disabilities. She has spoken in international conferences related to special education, and has written articles to multiple educational publications. Al Juffali-Ghandour received a degree in Child Development at Mills College and a California License as an elementary education teacher. She is also a Certified Child-Life Therapist. In 2002, she was the first woman to receive a medal from the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
