At-Large Executive Committee Member El Botrossya Social Development Office Zamalek, Cairo, Egypt Experience: Michèle Boutros-Ghali, born in Lebanon, is currently the Director of El Botrossya Social Development Office. She is also a gemologist and was a successful jewelry designer whose unique creations were sold throughout the Arab World. Michèle married in 1992, moved to Egypt where she worked as Associate Editor and Creative Director at Sphinx Publishing Co and later went on to publish her own books. With the birth of her third son in 1999, she was appointed Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of a large charitable organization sponsored by the family church, El Botrossya. Poised to oversee the financial, educational and social needs of scores of families in underprivileged areas, Michèle led numerous fundraising events that have become permanent benchmarks in Cairo’s society. The organization has developed and established several community and youth centers. Notably, Michèle has initiated and is currently working to expand and establish a corporate structure for a set of workshops in which women can develop skills in the garment and hand-woven textile industry. These workshops have already provided stable sources of income for over 2000 households. |
