Experience: Susan Bogart's career as a trial lawyer has included over 60 jury cases beginning in the 1980s. She began trying cases as a federal prosecutor in Chicago, Illinois, and was one of the first female lead prosecutors to try a high profile, terrorist case, in which leaders of the El Rukn gang negotiated to commit terrorist acts in the United States on behalf of Muammar Gaddafi of Libya. She received the US Department of Justice Special Achievement Award. Her career has taken her to Washington, where she served as one of the lead outside counsels to the Judiciary Committee, US House of Representatives, Majority, in the impeachment of President William Jefferson Clinton. She was also lead outside counsel in the 1999 impeachment presentation by the House Managers before the US Senate. Among her achievements on behalf of women was a million dollar settlement against the Chicago Police Department in the first sexual harassment case against the department's top brass. Her practice currently concentrates on representing high level senior executives, business owners, law enforcement, and other licensed professionals in employment-related and complex federal civil and criminal matters. She is an arbitrator with American Arbitration Association, a member of numerous bar associations, has been a delegate for the American Bar to China, Russia, and Israel and has served on the board of the Better Government Association. She has two children: Michael (BS UVA '07); Sara (Harvard '09).
